Temporary Residency

Visitor Visas

Visitor Visas are issued to those who are coming to Canada temporarily. Reasons to do so include, but are not limited to:

  • Uniting with a family member who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
  • Travelling for business purposes
  • To attend an end-of-life ceremony or funeral
  • To care for a terminally ill person

There are of course other reasons why someone would need to obtain a visitor visa. Whatever the reason may be, Esna Law PC can help with clarifying the processes, the forms, and the different paths available to you.

Work Permits

Work Permits

In most cases, to work in Canada, a foreign national is required to obtain a work permit. This is a document that allows you to collect wages, be part of a work force, collect important work experience in your career path, and earn a living while waiting for a decision on an existing application. At Esna Law PC, we are very familiar with the forms and procedures to follow when applying for a work permit. We can help you through this process and guide you through the necessary documentation that must be submitted.

Study Permits

To apply for a study permit, depending on what country you are travelling from, there is an application that must be submitted along with the fee and any supporting documentation. Esna Law PC has extensive knowledge to help you navigate the process without concern. It is important to remember to apply for a study permit prior to coming to Canada. We also work tirelessly with many foreign nationals who contact us from overseas to begin the process. To be eligible for the study permit, you have to:

  • Be enrolled in an approved institution. This institution also must be one that has a COVID-19 readiness plan.
  • Have enough financial backup to be able to pay for all expenses of living in Canada, as well as the cost of the learning.
  • Obey the law of Canada and the province you live in. Be in good health.
  • Be prepared to leave Canada once your studies are concluded.

A study visa is a document specifically issued for travel purposes and does not compare to the study permit. The permit is required if you would like to stay in Canada and study; the visa is only for travel purposes and its rules and exceptions are different.

Temporary Residency Permits

These permits are only available to those individuals who are found inadmissible or deemed to not have met the requirements for “temporary residence” or permanent residence. This applies to people who are currently temporary residents in Canada and those wishing to enter.

In TRP applications, the applicant has to show there is a compelling need for them to enter Canada, but also, that they do not pose any risk to the Canadian public.

It is a balancing process that depends on the specific facts of each case. Therefore, it is important for you to carefully prepare your application and include all the supporting documents that cover the above issues, but also, ones that show the uniqueness of your circumstances/application. If you are not sure whether a TRP application is for you, or if you are looking to get some with your TRP application, Esna Law PC would be happy to help.
