Hearings and Interviews

Hearings & Interviews

In order to finalize the process and gain citizenship of Canada, a hearing along with an interview must happen. The hearing is approximately 30-90 minutes in length and includes questions to make sure that you meet the conditions of citizenship. These include but are not limited to:

  • You must be a permanent resident.
  • You must have filed your taxes if you’re eligible to.
  • You must have proved your language skills.

The hearing will include an interview portion to test your knowledge of Canada. After this is completed, a letter will be sent indicating the results. Should you have passed the test, that same letter will advise you of the date of the citizenship ceremony. If the result of the test was negative, your application for citizenship will be refused.
